The continuing adventures of Kimberly and Willy
Summer in La Manzanilla
Summer is starting to wind down and the town has been pretty crowded with folks getting in the last little vacation before school starts. There are usually 5 or 6 tour busses in town every day and the roads are very crowded.
Also in August is the Fiesta Patronales, celebrating the birth of the Virgin Maria Asuncion. The church is named in her honor. This fiesta goes on for 9 days. Each day begins at 5am with a dozen or so very large bottle rockets to wake everybody up and get them to the morning parade, which is followed by mass. The process is repeated in the early evening. Each night there is a different float in the parade.... here are a couple of them

Lots of folks join the parade every evening. The Padre is the gent in the front wearing jeans.

The parade last night, which was the last night of the fiesta, had all of the floats.

This is the bottle rocket dude....The dogs in town, especially Maggie Mae, were going pretty nuts...I'm surprised that all of the dogs didn't join together and rip the guy a new something or other....

In other news, work continues on paving the main road which is very exciting...will certainly help keep the dust down.

We continue to get a bunch of rain and everything continues to grow... funny how that works....green everywhere

This is the road coming up to the house.
For the last few days the water has had these beautiful alternating stripes of turquoise and a darker blue...

Couple more weeks in the restaurant and we'll close for the month of September....another little vacation woo hoo...
