A walk in the park

On Sunday, July 13th, I decided to explore a local park. Umstead park is 5, 579 acres and is truly an oasis in the middle of the Raleigh, Durham and Cary triangle. I took a six mile hike to learn more about the flora and fauna of North Carolina and experience this beautiful landtrust. I took a few pictures so I could share my walk with all of you.

Fly-fishing is certainly popular in this area since everywhere you go you are very close to some sort of body of water. There is a gentleman in this picture flogging the water in the distance.

As I continued on my six mile hike I got a really good feeling for what a hardwood forest looks like.

Also there is a wide range of wild mushrooms growing in the park. The variety is amazing.

Finally, I just want everyone to know that I'm ready for company. I have two guest rooms that are ready and waiting.

Kimberly: here's also a nice local walk, about 2 blocks from my brother's house and that's Duke forest. I think in the summer there are plenty of parking spaces although all the locals use it for a nice morning and eve. jog. Don

Hey Kimberly! The park looks beautiful. Drop me an e-mail when you get a chance - I'd love to catch up.
